Dear Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commissioners:
After the death of Trulieve cannabis worker, Lorna McMurrey, it's time for the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission to make worker safety a top priority. For far too long cannabis cultivation workers have been suffering in toxic, unsafe work environments.
The CCC must create a new worker safety hotline and fund worker safety surveys and education. We are aware that some Commissioners do support taking action to support cannabis worker safety, it’s important that they hear from you.
Feel free to also email the Commissioners directly.
OSHA vs. Trulieve settlement announced
OSHA settles with Trulieve on Lorna McMurrey death, we will be discussing with McMurrey's co-worker, Danny Carson on THE YOUNG JURKS, Sunday at 7 pm.
Under the agreement, Trulieve will undertake a study to determine whether ground cannabis dust is required to be classified as a "hazardous chemical" in the occupational setting, according to OSHA regulations. Work on the study is to be completed by May 29, 2023.
Pending the study's outcome, Trulieve will design and implement a temporary information and training program that alerts employees to potential allergic reactions they might experience working with ground cannabis dust in an occupational setting. The program will include information about steps employees should take if they experience symptoms of allergies related to ground cannabis dust. Work on that program is already underway.

NECANN Awards please consider nominating “The Young Jurks” for best podcast and best news source. Awards that we’ve won in the past, we would love your support once again to get more of our coverage heard. I’ve also been nominated for “lifetime achievement” several times in the past and never won it. Which is totally fine last year we suggested some others that won! You might want to consider nominating two who we lost for that one, “Lorna McMurrey” and/or “Michael Malta”!
